2021 State FBLA Conference

Eastern Technical High School students attended the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) State Leadership Conference held virtually and hosted by Maryland FBLA. This conference/competition is the second qualification round for students competing at the state level for their designated business/computer science/communication competitive event. During the state leadership conference, Eastern Tech students competed against all other high schools, both public and private, in the State of Maryland for the chance to advance to the national leadership conference/competition. Students attending the conference participated in a multitude of activities and workshops integrating skills related to leadership, communication, teamwork. During these workshops, students were able to communicate and network with business professionals and other students from all over the state in a virtual setting. Under the guidance of FBLA advisor Daniel Murphy, Eastern Tech boasted winners in a wide array of categories including 3D Animation, Broadcast Journalism, Parliamentary Procedure, Network Design, Personal Finance, Public Speaking, and Computer Problem Solving.

Of the 43 Eastern Tech students who competed in presentations, projects and objective tests during the State Conference, 30 qualified for the National Leadership Conference held in July, giving Eastern Tech the most representation for all of Baltimore County and Baltimore City (MD FBLA Region 2). Among those who placed to go to the national competition, eight won first place in their personal events. These students include the team of Faith LeBrun, Nikita Paudel, and Christian Thomas competing in the Broadcast Journalism event. Additionally, Senior IT/Cyber Security student Kaden Stateler did a fantastic job representing his school and his career major magnet winning gold in Network Design.

At the state conference and competition, MD FBLA hosts the Maryland Board Elections for the 21-22 Maryland FBLA Board. Eastern Tech FBLA has continued our 5-year streak of having a student board member with the election of Noah Duncan for Region 2 Vice President. Noah will replace our previous Region 2 Vice President, senior Neha Mupparapu. Neha was an outstanding Region Vice president, and chapter President, and will be missed, but we are incredibly excited to see Noah in this prestigious position. Noah will lead all of Baltimore County and Baltimore City Schools, including the private schools located within our region. Noah and Eastern Tech FBLA will also host the regional leadership conference next year in January. This conference will include all of region 2 schools and chapters. We are incredibly excited to host the conference for the second year in a row.

Additionally, Eastern Tech FBLA Chapter was recognized as the Region 2 Champion which is calculated by totaling all students who won in their designated competition in comparison to all other schools within the region. Eastern Tech was also recognized as a chapter for outstanding participation with the Miriam B.
