Eastern Technical High School tops Maryland in U.S. News & World 2025 Best High Schools Report
With the new school year approaching, U.S. News & World Report has released its 2025 Best High Schools for Maryland and Eastern Technical High School in Baltimore County ranks No. 1.
The annual list evaluates nearly 25,000 public high schools nationwide, and uses a methodology that weighs several factors to determine its “Best High Schools” rankings.
So, which counties stand out?
Montgomery County dominates the rankings, placing six schools in the top 10 and many more in the top 50.
Baltimore County, Howard County and Anne Arundel County also show strong representation.
Greater Baltimore accounts for 11 of the top 50 schools, Howard County for 4 out of 50 and Anne Arundel County for 6 out of 50.
Rounding out the top five statewide are Walt Whitman, Poolesville, Thomas S. Wootton and Winston Churchill — all in Montgomery County.
Richard Montgomery is No. 6, followed by Urbana (Frederick) at No. 7.
Western School of Technology (Baltimore County) and River Hill (Howard County) land at Nos. 8 and 9, with Bethesda-Chevy Chase (Montgomery) at No. 10.
Other notable greater Baltimore placements in the top 20 include Carver Center for Arts and Technology (13), Baltimore Design School (14), Towson High (16), Centennial (17), Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (18) and Marriotts Ridge (19).
