SARE Program Students 2022
This past summer, Eastern Technical High School Students Fatima Sarfraz, Aysha Ijaz and Henry Vo participated in the Summer Academic Research Experience (SARE) sponsored by the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Initiative for Careers in Science and Medicine.  The program took place over several weeks and included experiencing academic seminars focused on content and strategies in areas such as scientific analysis, academic writing and advanced math concepts.  Additional sessions covered financial literacy, mental health wellness and the college application process.

The students showed tremendous growth from their diagnostic tasks to their end of course assessments.  They were given opportunities to work with John Hopkins University professors and local experts in their fields.  The program itself culminated with students submitting a formal abstract and reflection essay.  At the end of the program, SARE scholar Henry Vo was presented with the CARES scholarship in recognition of his superior academic achievement and role as a CARES student leader. Congratulations to all three ET students on their participation in such a prestigious program.
