Baltimore, MD, March 17, 2017—On March 1, 2017, Eastern Tech’s Principal C. Michelle Anderson received notification from Brandon Oland, BCPS Communications Specialist, that Eastern Tech teacher Rebecca Talbott was named one of five finalists in this year’s competition for Baltimore County Teacher of the Year. She will be honored as a featured guest at the Teacher of the Year Gala on April 26, 2017, at the George Washington Carver Center for the Arts and Technology. Prior to the Gala, BCPS TV will film her working with students, and she will be invited to a personal interview after school hours with the selection committee on Wednesday, March 22nd. (A BCPS Teacher of the Year is then encouraged to complete an application for Maryland Teacher of the Year.) Principal Anderson was elated to learn of Ms. Talbott’s selection in this year’s competition:  “Rebecca Talbott is very deserving of this award. As an instructor in our Teacher Academy of Maryland (TAM) program, she models excellent instructional practices for both her students and other faculty each day. For the 2011-2012 school year, she received the Maryland State Department of Education Career and Technical Education Secondary Program of Excellence Award for her work with TAM. In addition, her service to school and community projects is outstanding.” When asked how she felt about her selection, Ms. Talbott said, “I am both excited and humbled to be selected. I am grateful for the support I have received from the many colleagues and students who have made this possible.”
