Teacher Academy of Maryland

Students are prepared for careers in the education profession including middle school teacher, high school teacher, school counselor, school administrator, and school district supervisor. The program consists of four high school credits that focus on teaching as a profession, human growth and development, learning theory, and curriculum and instruction. In the senior year, students demonstrating proficiency have the opportunity to earn internships in elementary, middle, or high school settings. Upon completion of the program and passing of the Praxis I test, high school graduates are ready to be admitted to a teacher education program at the college level.


Grade 10

Child and Adolescent Development
  • Stages of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development of children from pre-birth to adolescence

Teaching as a Profession

Grade 12

Education Academy Internship
  • Observe and critique classroom teachers
